The assistive technology lab, located in Stayer room 236, is a great resource for all educators to use. This video gives a step by step process of how a student can utilize the assistive technology lab. Dr. Lucinda Ridley uses this lab for a project in her class. She explained this project to me and said; “I divide the class (SPED 431) into pairs who are assigned to be 'Active Participants' and provide my lesson's intro and closure for 1 day of the semester. As a requirement of this Active Participant role, the pair must visit the AT lab, browse and select an item. Then, on their scheduled date, they are required to provide the class with a demo (think QVC) and handout with one helpful hint or "FYI" on their chosen assistive technology device”(Ridley, L.). Not all courses require students to become familiar with assistive technology but in the video, Dr. Thomas Neuville discusses the importance of all educators becoming familiar with it.
